BERGER

It’s the dawning of Aquarius, and our “bite size” Berger bear fits right in with this exact replica of the costume worn in 2009’s Tony®-winning Best Revival.  The hippie leader’s brown suede fringe vest fits right over his t-shirt, while his brown suede fringe loin cloth wraps around the appropriately distressed denim jeans of the era. The jeans, shirt and shoes were purchased, altered and distressed in exactly the same way that the pieces worn by Broadway’s life size Berger are.  Those rip in the knee are a deliberate part of the design and are lovingly placed there on each and every pair of his Levi 527 jeans.  It’s the 1960’s after all, so what else would he have around his neck but a peace sign hung from a leather chord. A geometric pendant, braided rope bracelet and brown leather buckled wrist cuff top off his accessories, but let’s not forget his beige suede lace up ankle boots or his full head of hair, long beautiful hair—shining, gleaming, streaming, flaxen, waxen—and synthetic.  An inside secret is that each garment has one of Will Swenson’s very own scaled down laundry tags placed in exactly the same spot it appears on his onstage garb and it even includes his name and laundry number. No, not his phone number…his laundry number.   PEACE!
