Angela West grew up in Dahlonega, GA, and received her MFA in photography from Yale. Her work comprises a series of varied photographic projects relating to her hometown and the chronology of its inhabitants, including portrait studies of small-town teenage girls, landscape explorations of neighborhoods, and still lifes that represent the passing of time. Her richly realized color photographs balance affection for her subjects with precise and unsentimental observation. West's work is included in the collections of the High Museum of Art, The Ogden Museum of Southern Art and The Hirshhorn Museum in Washington D.C. Ms. West was the recipient of a 2009 Artadia Award.
