JANET VAN DE GRAAFF

Determined to leave the show biz for marital bliss, Broadway ingénue Janet Van De Graaff belts out her swan song, proclaiming (and proclaiming and proclaiming…), “I don’t wanna show off no more.”  A tour-de-force that gives our heroine the chance to show off her extraordinary range of skills and talents, both physical and vocal – it also gives her the chance to show off several extraordinary costumes.  To that end, Janet Bear is seen in a spectacular replica of one of those – namely her ornate wine-red velvet opera coat.  This loose-fitting, floor-length garment is lined in a matching silk-satin brocade.  The silk-satin bodice and puffed-out back are gold-embroidered in a floral design – and some of those “flowers” are even set with colored rhinestones.  Each long sleeve is trimmed with a band of jeweled embroidery that is set between two more bands of red fur.  Lines of gold bugle-beads accent the gathers of the thick shawl collar at 1” intervals, and the long gold-cord closure of the embroidered belt is decorated with a gold tassel.  On her head, a late-20s period-style wavy brunette coif; on her feet, gold and bronze leather t-strap heels with stripe detail; and under it all – red milliskin panties.  Rumor has is that “she don’t wanna show off no more.”  We seriously have our doubts!
