Mack Borchardt, Frisco Fire Chief,
In the early 1970s. Frisco was recruiting volunteer firefighters, and Mack felt that he should give something back to the community.
He had graduated from Frisco High School in 1966 with 31 other students and went on to attend Grayson County College for two years, and East Texas University for one year.
He completed the Richardson Fire Academy in 1979. In February 1979, Borchardt was named Chief of Frisco Volunteer Fire Department, while working full time for Mckinney Fire Department.
While Mack was serving as a volunteer firefighter and working full time in Mckinney, he also owned and operated a Maytag appliance and air conditioning business on Main Street in Frisco.
In 1981, he left McKinney to assume full-time duties as a paid Frisco City Administrator/Volunteer Fire Chief.
In 1987 following the hiring of Frisco City Manager George Purefoy, Mack then became a full time paid Fire Chief.
An amazing idea of Macks was to create a facility for school-age children and integrate it as part of the public education division. This idea, 'Fire Safety Town', opened January 2007. The facility is located adjacent to the new Central Fire Station and offers school year programs free of charge to students in kindergarten through fifth grades.
