The Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History is located in the heart of Detroit's Cultural Center at 315 East Warren Avenue at Brush Street. The museum is located next to the Detroit Science Center and within one block of the Detroit Institute of Arts.

The Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History is the world's largest institution dedicated to the African American experience. The Museum provides exhibitions and programs that explore the diversity of African American history and culture. The Museum houses over 30,000 artifacts and archival materials and is home to the Blanche Coggin Underground Railroad Collection, Harriet Tubman Museum Collection, Coleman A. Young Collection and the Sheffield Collection, a repository of documents of the labor movement in Detroit.

The museum has generously donated the use of its Ford Freedom Rotunda for your next event. The Ford Freedom Rotunda offers a beautiful backdrop for your next event. It is distinctive from any setting in the world and offers the perfect atmosphere for almost every occasion. This beautiful space is all under our infamous, majestic dome and adorned with the spectacular exhibition, "Genealogy".

* Sit Down Reception - 250 guests
* Sit Down Reception w/Dance floor - 200 guests (dance floor is an extra cost of $500)
* Auditorium/Lecture - 400 guests
* Strolling Reception - 500 guests

 

 

Item Special Note

The museum cannot be rented on Mondays or Holidays.  A Mandated clean up fee of $500 does apply for any event.  Expires March 1, 2011
