Item Description

This stunning fine art photograph entitled "Dunes, Sahara" portrays the Great Sahara Desert in the remote border region between Morocco and Algeria. The land is inhospitable by standards of most of the world, but the nomadic Tuareg tribesmen continue their spartan existence in this area even at the present time. Individual dunes attain impressive heights, and their shapes are continuously transformed by the shifting wind directions. These mysterious aeolian forces create the sharp dune ridgetops, that contrast wonderfully with the subtle smaller scale micro-topographic ripples, the latter of which one can imagine shifting as one gazes at this desert landform.

Lisa Kristine is a San Francisco based photographer specializing in images of remote indigenous peoples.  Initially spending nearly five years in Asia, she immersed herself in world philosophies and religions. Upon her return to the USA in 1988, she exhibited her first body of photographic work. For over 23 years, Lisa has documented cultural and geographic subjects in over 60 countries on six continents throughout the world and has been active in publications, galleries, foundations, museums and educational venues.

Lisa Kristine is respected as a skilled fine art photographer. Her intuition and passion, coupled with a strong attention to technical detail make for stunning prints which boast crisp, sharp grain and sensual color saturation. The works, both inspiring and evocative, draw a connection between the beholder and the engaging subjects of the photographs. Each exquisite print is opulent and elegant, allowing the image to be viewed with reverence and sensitivity. As these haunting  images are deeply thought provoking, the artist opens a dialogue about the diversity, beauty and hardship of our interlocking world.

This offering is being presented for auction by the Lisa Kristine Sonoma Gallery, where Laura Bennett is the Gallery Director. The Sonoma Gallery is situated right on Sonoma Plaza at 452 First Street East. Other Lisa Kristine galleries are located in Sausalito, California and Santa Fe, New Mexico.
