Unique Experiences
Persian Dinner on Crane Island for 6
- Item Number
- 112
Item Description
Your chef and host for this remarkable evening is Dr. Margaret Mills, who teaches at Ohio State University but spends part of each year on Crane Island. She is widely regarded as a leading specialist in the popular culture of the Persian and Farsi speaking world. Her book, Rhetorics and Politics in Afghan Traditional Storytelling, won the 1993 Chicago Folklore Prize for best academic work in folklore.
Margaret will pick you and your 5 friends up at the special Crane Island dock past Deer Harbor, and ferry you to Crane Island in her small boat. Once there, you might choose to have a leisurely walk around Crane, or a boat ride circumnavigating the island, either of which might involve some bird watching. All this will then be followed by a truly delicious Persian feast, including wine. If you wish, dinner can also be accompanied by Persian folk stories, or conversation about the current state of the Farsi speaking world.
Those who have been successful bidders for this treat at previous OPAL auctions have enjoyed a spectacular afternoon and evening.
