Item Description
Always one of California's top Chardonnays, the 2007 Chardonnay Private Reserve has toned down the toasty oak component, exhibiting excellent nutty, honeyed, buttery notes of orange marmalade, brioche, and spice. Full-bodied, rich, and pure, it reminds me of a Burgundian premier cru from Chassagne-Montrachet or Mersault.
The 2007 growing season began with very cool temperatures in the Winter. Spring and Summer brought warmer temperatures, but still consistently mild overall, resulting in ripening of the fruit at a very steady pace. The dryness of the season resulted in smaller yields than some previous years, and overall the quality was impressive. The 2007 Private Reserve Chardonnay grapes were harvested between September 1st and September 24th.
Bonus: Beringer Vineyards 2 for 1 tasting pass at the Old Winery Tasting Bar in St. Helena!
