Item Description
The winning bidder will receive a sold out limited edition print by Rie Munoz, entitled "Float Swing."
In 1951 Muñoz was planning a vacation. Looking at a map, she randomly drew a line from her home in California to the farthest point she could visit on her limited budget. She opted to go to Alaska, traveling up the Inside Passage by steamship, and fell in love with Juneau. She gave herself one day, until the boat was scheduled to depart, to find a job and a place to live. She landed a newspaper job and Alaska has been home to Muñoz ever since.
Munoz describes "Float Swing" as: "These color buoy or float swings are a common sight in Alaska's fishing villages. Commercial fishing regulations require the owner's name and commercial fishing license number be shown on all floats. This one with the Compbell name belongs to the family who invites me annually to their summer fish camp in the Yakutat area to sketch."
This 1998 sold out limited edition print is #15/1100, shrink wrapped, has acid free mounting and is unframed. Dimensions are 9" X 14.5" approximately.
