This is a rare opportunity for your party of EIGHT PEOPLE to see the behind the scenes operations of one of California's leaders in sustainable wine production, with your visit hosted by Chris Benziger, Partner. This is a very special encounter you will have with one of the State's cutting edge leaders of sustainable wine practice.
In the ultra-organic approach of the Benziers, the vineyard is viewed holistically. Chemicals and artifical inputs are eliminated and natural balances are re-instated. They have learned which flowers attracted the bugs we needed to keep pest populations in control. Habitats were created for birds and owls, and cows, sheep and chickens were brought in to live on the property.
Once the estate found its balance, the wines did too. As the Benziger family tasted the wines grown from such a healthy and vibrant place, they realized that the distinctiveness and authenticity comes from the whole wine environment. Healing the land led to an amazing new caliber of wines and the Benzigers have continued to apply the lessons learned on their estate to all the vineyards they draw from.
