Item Description

This is truly a unique experience!

Out of this world, you might say.

For the winning CHESTERBROOK FAMILY, escorted entry by a former NASA astronaut into the Kennedy Space Center for the May 14, 2010 Space Shuttle Atlantis Launch.

Family Golden Ticket Includes:

  • Free airfare for a Chesterbrook Elementary student (and up to one (1) additional Chesterbrook sibling - depending on winning family) from Washington, DC to Orlando, FL.  Parents pay their own airfare.
  • Free hotel accommodation for up to 3 nights at Cocoa Beach Hotel.
  • Free transportation from Hotel to Kennedy Space Center via bus with former astronaut as the tour guide!
  • Free VIP escorted visit to the Kennedy Space Center Museum.
  • FOR CHESTERBROOK FAMILIES ONLY.

This item is a perfect link to the goals of the ATK/Chesterbrook ~ ARES (Astronomy Research in Earth and Science) on-going program:

  • To ignite the rocket engine of a student's passion for math and science at the earliest stage of learning.
  • To expand the student's curiosity about the universe through hands-on science and technology learning.

Item Special Note

Space Shuttle Launches are dependent on clearance from NASA.

  • Factors that could impact the actual launch are: weather (lightening/thunderstorms) and/or mechanical flight clearance issues.
  • Due to multiple uncontrollable factors affecting a successful launch, the possibility exists of a slippage and/or cancellation of a Space Shuttle launch.
  • Parents are advised that any last second launch cancellations may cause airfare charges or rescheduling fees for their own airline tickets. (Student ticket fees/charges will be paid by ATK.)
  • If Space Shuttle flight is delayed or cancelled, there is no guarantee that the winning family will be able to attend a future launch.

Parents must individually coordinate student absences directly with Chesterbrook Elementary Principal.

The Family Golden Ticket does not include ground transportation costs from Orlando airport to the Cocoa Beach Hotel (rental car facilities available at the Orlando airport).

For NASA clearance into Cape Canaveral Air Force Station and the Kennedy Space Center, adults must present two (2) forms of picture identification and all family members must provide full name, date and place of birth.

This is the last flight for Space Shuttle Atlantis. (Space Shuttle Endeavour will launch in July.  Space Shuttle Discovery's launch in September 2010 is the last flight before all of the space shuttles are retired.)
