Performers/Presenter
Item Description
Performances Off the Shelf presents our GrandMothers in the series Warriors Who Changed the World. Because they dreamed and lived courageously, blazing a trail to women's rights, our generations of women are able to keep the wages we earn while working outside the home, own property in our own name, earn salaries comparable to men's and protect our children's rights. Our sacred trust is to honor their achievements, tell their stories and pass on their heroism to future generations. Employing the skills of an accomplished professional actor, perceptive historian and eloquent writer, Bonda Lewis calls into being before the audience's eyes, women who shaped our lives and times. In exquisite period costumes, on sets filled with artifacts from the period, with the words of the women themselves, she voices their realities, memories and dreams, their laughter and hopes. Hear from and talk with women writers and activists in history. Watch them come to life in 40 minute to 1 hour shows. |
