Item Description
The Tour -- to take place at a mutually agreed time -- will include the house and room where Henry David Thoreau was born on July 12, 1817. Joe Wheeler, a Concordian who is a descendant of John Wheeler, who built the birth house about 1730, will lead the tour. We will take in other Thoreau-related places in Concord and will include a lunch for two. Wheeler was the founding president of the Thoreau Farm Trust which is raising the funds for the restoration of the house. We expect the lunch and tour will take about four hours.
Item Special Note
See the Trust's website at http://www.ThoreauFarm.org for background, including two articles by Joe Wheeler and another by Special Collections Curator Leslie Wilson.
