Item Special Note
“When pieces appear too ’precious’ women tend to forget them in their jewelry boxes. I am interested in creating jewelry that becomes part of a woman’s signature look.”
As a woman designer, Rebecca Overmann understands the power of both subtlety and movement in her designs. As an accomplished metalsmith, (and 2008 recipient of the JCK Rising Star Award,) she has mastered the art of creating a graceful balance in her collections that are, at once, highly nuanced and deceptively simple.
“I definitely believe in form following function, and designs that have a ‘less is more’ quality about them."
says the designer who has been working in jewelry for over 15 years and launched her full- fledged collection under her own name in 2002. “I tend to create pieces that I would wear myself: sculpted, elegant forms that are never overstated. I believe that my customers want jewelry that complements rather than dominates their personalities, wardrobes or personal styles,” Overmann asserts. With this in mind, she sprinkles precious stones into the collection as an accent to bring a little more depth and a little sparkle to the design without detracting from the organic form or the individuality of the wearer.
Since she graduated from Savannah College of Art & Design, Rebecca has been hand forging and finishing her jewelry in many different materials, ultimately focusing on 14k and 18k gold, sterling silver, and precious stones. Every piece is designed and created in her San Francisco studio, and her collection is available at fine galleries and jewelry boutiques throughout the country.
