Item Description
Materials/ Description of Process: Pastels, charcoal, illustration boards, colored pencils. Ms. Fernandez's 1st grade students explored the differences between abstract and representational art through the lens of conveying emotions and feelings. After reading Dr. Seuss' My Many Colored Days, examining an array of famous artworks, brainstorming a list of feelings and emotions, and differentiating between abstract and representational art, each 1st grader created two pieces of art representing a feeling or an emotion. One piece was representational; another was abstract. At least one of each 1st grader's 20x10 masterpieces is featured in the framed triplicates. These pieces of whimsy are sure to steal your heart.
