Casey Malone is Assistant Track and Field Coach at the University of Colorado and a prrofessional discus thrower. He received his BFA from Colorado State while pursuing the ancient sport of Discus Throwing. He won an NCAA National Championship in 1998 in the Discus Throw. Since graduating in 2000, he has competed in two IAAF World Championships and two Olympics with his highest finish of 6th in Athens (2004) and 5th in Berlin (2009). "I picked up the mask and it sat in my hand like a discus," he says. "After that I could not envision anything other than a self portrait of my hand holding a discus." He took his inspiration from depictions of discus throwers from 600-400 B.C.
