Item Description
Denver International Airport's International Staff is credited with creating this mask titled, "Come fly with me. Let's fly, let's fly away" for Kim Day, manager of aviation. Songwriter Jimmy Van Heusen wrote the words and Frank Sinatra made them come alive. The mask captures the romance of travel by depicting the early days of flight and the image of a modern Denver International Airport all set in the beautiful destination of Colorado. Pastels of pink and blue set the tone and feeling of "where the air is rarified, we'll just glide, starry-eyed." Visually saying "Come fly with me, let's take off in the blue" the mask is the dream of flight, the freedom of wings and allure of the unknown. Through the artist's work, the mask is speaking, "Pack up. Let's Fly Away."
