Wall of Heroes
Item Description
The Society of Military Widows, a national organization, serves to educate and advocate for widows of career military men, veterans and active-duty military. Sharmon Green, a retired public school art teacher who taught in New Mexico and Colorado, created this mask for SMW Columbine Chapter No. 22. The art features American flag representing all branches of the armed forces and symbolizing the flags that draped the caskets of their spouses. The yellow ribbon shows their support for active duty military and the columbine flower is their chapter's symbol as well as the state flower. The current membership roster is on the back of the mask.
