Item Description
James Hardman is one of Orcas Island's best known artists. His striking paintings, which capture the beauty of the local landscapes, particularly the madrona trees, are included in over 500 private collections.
This framed giclee print, called "Madrona", is 12.75" x 19".
On his website, Mr. Hardman says his work celebrates the beauty of his island home. "I paint to convey a sensibility, a way of perceiving." He is self-taught and his unusual style has developed over 20 years of experimentation. His technique incorporates elements of glazing methods from the Renaissance with color treatment reminiscent of the pointillists. He works in multiple layers of translucent painting, using either a combination of watercolor and acrylic or a combination of oil and egg tempera.
Item Special Note
The painting can be either picked up on Orcas or shipped at no cost to the bidder. If the latter, it will be shipped without glass. In that case, the winning bidder will be responsible for adding glass to the frame on their end.
If you are on Orcas would like to see the painting first hand, call Kari Van Gelder at 376-5063 to arrange a viewing.
