5) A short artist bio - “As a kid, Nicholas Nelson found himself sketching the cover of his cereal box instead of eating breakfast in the morning. Not interested in how “Great” Tony the Tiger was or in catching a sugar buzz, instead he was entranced by the lines and shadows that brought Tony and his imagination to life. Soon after, his Crayola crayons were replaced with blending stumps – coloring books transformed into sketch pads and sidewalk chalk deepened into oil pastels. Years later, he earned a degree in Graphic Design from the Art Institute of Minnesota, where he continued to develop his skills as an artisan. There he trained with skilled graphic artists, photographers, and painters and was surrounded by extremely talented people who have greatly influenced him as a designer. A professional designer for over a decade, he possesses a comprehensive range of experience from Art Direction, Graphic Design, Branding / Marketing, Photography, Advanced Color Management to Digital Rendering. His motivation, ingenuity and expertise in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Acrobat, Quark Express, After Effects, and Flash, have been demonstrated in the success of countless projects and have made him an asset to firms and ultimately every client he has been fortunate to work with. When embarking on a project, Nicholas instinctively integrates his vision and dynamic energy with each design challenge – breathing his passion and dedication into the life of everything he creates”.

Item Special Note

THE FINE PRINT:

Please note that the description above was submitted by the artist.  Also note that the image depicted with the listing is the image used in the Portland Project Deck ... which may be slightly different from the original artwork you are bidding on.  The original artwork also may have had additional aspects or features digitally added to prepare it for inclusion in the deck.  In some listings (but not all) we have mentioned differences between the card image and the original artwork, but in all cases you take final responsibility to be comfortable with the piece of art you are bidding on.  If you have any questions about the difference between the image and the original piece, we encourage you to see the actual piece of art in person before you bid (they are all even more incredible live).  In all cases the artwork is ready to hang but the pieces vary in terms of framing, attached hardware, etc.  To find out where you can view the actual artwork, visit www.facebook.com/artinhandpdx or view the home page of the auction where we have all the showings listed.  If you are the winning bidder we will expect you to make arrangements to have your art picked up either between 9-10pm at the closing reception Saturday evening May 22 or over the following couple of days at Splendorporium (3421 SE 21st Ave) between 11am and 5pm.  If you prefer the artwork to be shipped, expect to pay actual packing and shipping costs (which will vary for each item depending the size, framing, etc.) plus a $25 handling fee.  Note that this could get expensive, so we encourage you to make arrangements to have it picked up locally.  Note that we will not pre-calculate packing and shipping. Although the auction requires you to register a credit card to bid, we will NOT automatically bill your card if you are a winning bidder, as we would prefer to collect your payment by check or cash when you pick up your artwork.  You will receive notice from us if you are the winning bidder with your options.
