5) Artist bio:  From as far back as she can remember, Kaira West has felt the calling to create, express, and share through various artistic mediums. Having lived in Portland all of her life, she has a deep appreciation for the splendor and beauty the Northwest has to offer, and much of her
inspiration comes to her while listening to the ocean waves, strolling through the forest, or just watching the rain fall outside her window.  Many people ask Kaira how she comes up with ideas for her paintings, and the truth is that her work is rarely planned out.  She has received her deepest insights by letting go of agendas, opening herself up completely, and allowing ideas and emotions to flow through her and onto the painting surface.  Kaira has been creating art for many years, and her work has been continuously exhibited in cafes and galleries all over the city.  For more information about Kaira, you can visit www.artbykaira.com.

Item Special Note

THE FINE PRINT:

Please note that the description above was submitted by the artist.  Also note that the image depicted with the listing is the image used in the Portland Project Deck ... which may be slightly different from the original artwork you are bidding on.  The original artwork also may have had additional aspects or features digitally added to prepare it for inclusion in the deck.  In some listings (but not all) we have mentioned differences between the card image and the original artwork, but in all cases you take final responsibility to be comfortable with the piece of art you are bidding on.  If you have any questions about the difference between the image and the original piece, we encourage you to see the actual piece of art in person before you bid (they are all even more incredible live).  In all cases the artwork is ready to hang but the pieces vary in terms of framing, attached hardware, etc.  To find out where you can view the actual artwork, visit www.facebook.com/artinhandpdx or view the home page of the auction where we have all the showings listed.  If you are the winning bidder we will expect you to make arrangements to have your art picked up either between 9-10pm at the closing reception Saturday evening May 22 or over the following couple of days at Splendorporium (3421 SE 21st Ave) between 11am and 5pm.  If you prefer the artwork to be shipped, expect to pay actual packing and shipping costs (which will vary for each item depending the size, framing, etc.) plus a $25 handling fee.  Note that this could get expensive, so we encourage you to make arrangements to have it picked up locally.  Note that we will not pre-calculate packing and shipping. Although the auction requires you to register a credit card to bid, we will NOT automatically bill your card if you are a winning bidder, as we would prefer to collect your payment by check or cash when you pick up your artwork.  You will receive notice from us if you are the winning bidder with your options.
