Item Description

This collection of Japanese glass floats includes 4 round ones and 1 rare "rolling pin".  They were first produced in the 1840's when they were used to suspend fishing nets.  Recycled glass, especially old sake bottles, was typically used to make them and air bubbles in the glass are a result of the rapid recycling process. After being blown, floats were removed from the blowpipe and sealed with a 'button' of melted glass before being placed in a cooling oven.

Item Special Note

4 - round ball floats,  3-4 inches

1 - rolling pin float, 6 1/2 inches long

Winning bidder is responsible for shipping charges and Hawaii state tax.
