Item Description

Artist Statement:

Working directly on a plexiglass plate with etching inks, using trace drawings, Xerox lithography, chine colle, as well as found and recycled objects, my monotypes explore abstractions in the natural world, the written word, and the passage of time.  I am particularly interested in the nuances of the ghost images, which imitate the layers found in the natural world and in life in general.

In this series, "Fitting Words", I have used the New York Times Sunday crossword puzzles that I have done over the years (in varying degrees of completion) for my imagery.  By enlarging the crosswords and printing them in layers of different colors using Xerox lithography, the abstracted images take on a different meaning and quality...another riddle or puzzle.
