Item Description
Invite 20 of your closest friends and family for an exclusive, four-wheel-drive trip up to Kona, Hawaii mauka ranch lands. The tour alone is breath-taking as you travel where few people are allowed to go, through the ohia forests and topping off at over 5,000 feet above sea level.
However, the highlight of the trip will be Jackie Pualani Johnson's exclusive, chicken-skin performance as Isabella Bird.
In the summer of 1873, Kona was visited by Isabella Bird, the 19th century Scottish writer and world traveler. Born in Yorkshire, England in 1831, she was 22 when advised by her doctor to take a voyage for her health. She toured Canada and the United States, and on her return she recorded and publisher her impressions in a book called "An Englishwoman in America", and began her career as the most popular female travel writer of her age. Isabella left Auckland, New Zealand, aboard the mail steamer Nevada on January 19, 1873 and weighed anchor at Honolulu, Hawaii on January 26. Soon after she found her way to Kona. Upon leaving the Kona district she recorded her last impression: "Kona looks unutterably beautiful, a lanquid dream of all fair things...It is best to leave the islands now. I love them better every day, and dreams of Fatherland are growing fainter in this perfumed air and under this glittering sky. A little longer, and I too should say, like all who have made their homes here under the deep banana shade: We will return no more, ...our island home is far beyond the wave, we will no longer roam."
Jackie will take you back to those times in her portrayal of Isabella when she visted Charles Wall's first sheep station. this is a once-in-a-lifetime event that shouldn't be missed!
