Enjoy a week-long getaway in this stunning 5 bedroom, 5 bath private home, located on 8 acres in Sandpoint, Idaho.  Whether you enjoy skiing and snowboarding, beach and boating, or spa’s and wine tastings  --  there is something for everyone!  National Geographic Adventure Magazine rated it one of their Top 12 Towns, and wrote a fabulous article, calling it an “idyllic adventure haven”!

 As you come down the road, you will see acres of meadow, and a house in the distance, nestled against the tree line…  You are almost there!  When you approach, you will see the hammock swinging gently on the long rustic front porch, which belies the wonderful, warm interior.  After dinner, you can relax on the back porch, and stoke the flames in the fire pit if the night turns chilly…

There are 4 seasons of Fun! 

Schweitzer Mountain: The ski resort is 10 miles away, and is the place to ski, snowboard, or relax by the fire.  The summer months offer a host of activities for every age and interest!  Go out and enjoy 18 holes of golf (Frisbee golf also available), hiking trails, mountain biking (cross country & downhill), and scenic chairlift rides  --  or just spend the day relaxing at the area spas.  Enjoy the beauty of this pristine mountain lake by renting a boat or kayak, or building sandcastles at what was voted one of The Five Best Summer Beaches in the US!  The Schweitzer Mountain Resort offers a summer Adventure Camp for the kids, while the adults enjoy an afternoon wine tasting at several area vineyards. 

The Village of Sandpoint:   Enjoy the turn of the century town with tree-lined streets, a thriving artists community, and quaint shopping.  Pop into the Panida theatre to catch a show, a local restaurant for a wonderful meal, or stroll to the beach with a homemade ice cream cone.  It is home to numerous festivals, open-air concerts and antique stores, and a host of other attractions.

 Hiking:  There are 275 miles of great hikes for all ages and mobility levels around Sandpoint.  On the coffee table you will be able to peruseTrails of the Wild Cabinets and Trails of the Wild Selkirks (the two mountain ranges around Sandpoint.)  These are good hiking books and the descriptions (including difficulty) seem to be right on.  Don’t shy away from a “busy” hike just because it’s a nice summer day -- these trails rarely get crowded.  The Roman Nose hike in the Wild Cabinets is particularly good for small children or those with more limited mobility.

Boat Rentals: Rental boats are available Sandpoint Marina, located in the Power House at the bend on the way into town, as well as at Bottle Bay Marina.  Kayaks can be rented at several locations as well.

 Sandpoint West Athletic Club (SWAC):  The athletic club is about ¼ mile down Pine toward town.  It has a full range of aerobic and weight machines, 25-yard lap pool, raquetball and squash courts, and indoor and outdoor basketball.  Prices are very reasonable:  $32 a week for the first family member, $18 for the second and $12 additional people.  There is also on-site daycare. 

Tennis:  There are public courts about ¼ mile down Pine, toward town, just across the street from SWAC.  They are in a nice public park with a track that runs around it (it’s a mile if you run it the figure-8), soccer and baseball fields and a jungle gym, etc.

 Biking:  Mountain and road biking are a big deal in Sandpoint!  There are several bikes in the garage that you may borrow.  Rentals for mountain bikes are also easy to find; road bikes are harder.  If you are interested in mountain biking, check at one of the bike shops for routes, and think about a ride down Schweitzer. 

 Sandpoint Beach: There is a beautiful sandy beach and park on Lake Pend Oreille, and it was voted one of the Five Best Summer Beaches!  There are picnic tables, grills, swings/climbers, etc. as well as tennis and basketball courts.

Pend Oreille Winery: There is a daily wine tasting here, and often host tastings with hors d’ouerves on the weekends.  The wine is very moderately priced, and they stock a nice selection of glassware, pottery, etc…

 Coldwater Creek Café: There is a nice wine bar on the top floor of the Coldwater Creek building.  With its comfy couches and overstuffed armchairs, it is a wonderful place to go for a glass of wine or coffee/hot chocolate after skiing.  (and the Wine list is really good!)
