Item Description
Caroline H. Gurrey was a little known photographer in Hawaii in the early 1900's but her photos have since become much sought-after. She made her living with her portraits of Honolulu's wealthy citizens but her interest in photography as an art remained with Hawaii's mixed race children.
This photo is entitled "Young Hawaiian Boy in malu with lobster" and is one of the photos mentioned in the book "Photographers of Old Hawaii". It was this photo that was given much praise by a mainland art critic in 1902.
Item Special Note
With the image measuring 13.5 x 5.5, this archival photo was printed on rag paper.
Winning bidder is responsible for shipping and handling charges and Hawaii state tax.
