Item Description
When Italian painter Berto Cabrera was approached and asked if he would consider donating something from his current collection, there was no hesitation before he said “Of course!” A bit later however, he asked to hear a little more about our organization and what our goal was for this auction. A lengthy and lively conversation followed, and we agreed to touch base the following week. A week later I received a message to stop by the gallery to pick up his donation, and was greeted by a paint-covered artist who was excitedly rambling about growth, rebirth, etc. in his charming Italian accent. It took me a several moments before I understood… He wasn’t donating something from his current collection – he was donating a series of paintings done specifically in honor of this cause!!
Each of these ten conceptual paintings represents some aspect of ‘life’ as he sees it, and if you look closely, you will see the watering can in several of them. In another, it is the shape of a heart, or a flower, or even a face…
Item Special Note
"Make You Cry" is an original piece, signed and titled by the artist
Size: 15” x 20”
Medium: Acrylic on heavy paper
The variances in lighting throughout the day and into early evening are reflected by the changes in tone and hue of the painting. Strokes become more or less defined; colors may deepen or show an iridescent quality, layers blend or become more pronounced. We have tried to capture a range of lighting, and offer a magnified snapshot of the piece -- but it is almost impossible to convey the two-dimensional characteristics in a one-dimensional format.
As we get closer to the auction start, all pieces will be on public display at various Evanston venues. We will update each paintings specific location on their auction page at that time.
