BIOGRAPHY
LA Weekly critic Christopher Miles has described Heather Brown's work as "sexy, eclectic, raw and tender." Writing on her solo exhibition at Parker Jones (2009), he notes, "If you're looking for figuration that's genuine, smart and pleasurable, and maybe a bit poignant about modern life and love, you might find a bit of homespun magic here." Brown has also had solo exhibitions at Black Dragon Society in Los Angeles and at the College of Creative Studies Gallery in Santa Barbara. Her work has been featured in Carpetbag and Cozyspace at Healing Arts in Brooklyn (2004) and Southern Exposure at Ruby Green in Nashville (2008). She received her MFA from UCLA where she was a recipient of the UCLA Feitelson Merit Scholarship for three consecutive years, as well as the Darcy Hayman Award (2000) and the Gamblin Paint Award (2001-2002). Born in Berkeley, she currently lives and works in Los Angeles.

Curated by Joshua Aster and Kristin Calabrese.
