BIOGRAPHY
Andrew Berardini has suggested that Joel Kyack’s art practice is wedded to a particular American vision of labor, “owing a kinship to Emerson and Thoreau as well as the DIY punk movement.” (Angeleno, 2010). Kyack’s work has been shown at Kunstahalle L.A.; the 2008 California Biennial at The High Desert Test Sites; MOCA, Los Angeles; the UCLA Wight Gallery; the USC Roski Gallery; Maryland Art Place in Baltimore; the RISD Museum in Providence; and Art in General, ATM and Buzzer Thirty in New York, among others. Kyack received his MFA from USC and his BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design. He is based in Los Angeles.
