BIOGRAPHY
Michael Decker’s artworks link the iconic simplicity of formalist thought with the metaphysics of spontaneous invention. They develop out of a distinct interest in a language-based, dream-like narrative, where caricature and satire combine with knowledge and processes. Decker has had solo exhibitions at Steve Turner Contemporary (2010), Dan Graham Gallery (2010) and Circus Gallery (2009). He has also worked extensively with Christian Cummings on a project involving the channeling of multiple artists through a Ouija board, producing everything from drawings and paintings to sculptures and poems. They have performed their "Ghost Drawings" with Creative Time in New York and at the Museum of Jurassic Technology and the Santa Monica Museum of Art. Decker received his BFA from CalArts. He currently lives and works in Highland Park.
Curated by Andrew Berardini.
