BIOGRAPHY
Lauren Greenfield’s work addresses issues relating to youth culture, gender identity, body image, eating disorders and the influence of popular culture on how we live. Her photographs have been widely exhibited and are in many museum collections, including those of the Getty Museum; LACMA; the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art; the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston; the Art Institute of Chicago and the French Ministry of Culture. Her photographs have been regularly published in New York Times Magazine, Time, Elle and American Photo, and have won many awards including the International Center for Photography Infinity Award, the Hasselblad Grant, the Community Awareness Award from the National Press Photographers and the Moscow Biennial People’s Choice Award. She was named by American Photo as one of the 25 most influential photographers in 2003.Greenfield was one of eight photographers in the inaugural exhibition of The Annenberg Space for Photography in Los Angeles (2009). She is represented by the Pace/MacGill Gallery in New York and the Fahey/Klein Gallery in Los Angeles.
