BIOGRAPHY
Jill Giegerich writes, "My work has always played in the arena of the subliminal and is discursive in its approach. I make objects that exist between an implied potential to bring closure and the actual refusal of the work to do soÉ I hope that in this gap viewers may be provoked into a contemplation on what they think they saw behind the face of the work."
Giegerich's work is in the collections of MOCA, Los Angeles; LACMA; MOMA, New York; The Eli Broad Foundation; and the Brooklyn Museum. She is the recipient of a Guggenheim Fellowship and an NEA Fellowship. After living in Los Angeles for 30 years, Giegerich moved to Joshua Tree in 2005 where she is "currently embarked on a more radical engagement with everything."
