BIOGRAPHY
"Influenced equally by Gutai and West Coast performance and video, Hiro's practice attempts to distinguish the body from the image, often resulting in a doubling of both." -Catherine Taft in Modern Painting, November 2008.

Born in Osaka, Japan, Naotaka Hiro received his MFA from CalArts after previously studying at the Universtias Gadjah Mada in Indonesia. Hiro has exhibited widely in venues such as Henry Art Gallery, Seattle (2010); Misako & Rosen, Tokyo (2009); China Art Objects Gallery, Los Angeles (2009); and Dobaebacsa, Seoul (2009), among others. He currently lives and works in Los Angeles.
