BIOGRAPHY
Susan Cianciolo is a multimedia artist and designer. She is named as one of the 150 most important designers of our times in i-D’s Fashion Now book. Upon graduating from Parsons The New School for Design in New York, Ciancolo joined the design team at Bagdley Mischka. She was at the forefront of fashion’s customizing, deconstructionist movement in the 90s and a pioneer in using eco-friendly materials in her designs. She founded X-Girl, a collaboration with Sonic Youth bassist Kim Gordon, and she was a member of the Run collective, a ten-year project that produced film, performance art and handmade clothing. Cianciolo’s visual artwork and fashion collections have been exhibited in art galleries internationally, including Sears Payton Gallery in Chelsea, Alleged Gallery in New York and Tokyo and the Purple Institute in Paris. She recently launched her fall 2010 collection at White Box Gallery as part of New York Fashion Week.
