BIOGRAPHY
Corita Kent, also known as Sister Corita, is one of America's most celebrated serigraph artists. Her magical use of color and word won her international acclaim, and her original artworks can be found in over 37 major museums. As an art professor at Immaculate Heart College from 1952 to 1968, Sister Corita transformed the art department into a hub of artistic creativity. With her unique and spontaneous style, she soon commanded an important place on the American art scene. In 1968, Corita left the Order and moved to Boston. She made numerous commissioned works as well as her own serigraphs and plein air watercolor paintings. She remained active in social causes until her death in 1986.
Curated by Jamie Rosenthal.
