BIOGRAPHY
"[Lezley] Saar's works maintain a powerfully unstable balance of fear and fantasy, fracture and integration [...] Although still looking into her own life, it's evident that Saar is neither re-creating nor overanalyzing, but rather seeking to empathize; the push and pull of trying to make sense of and develop into something heretofore unknown creates a beautifully strange language all its own." -Annie Buckley, Artforum, 2007

Lezley Saar's works are included in the collections of The Ackland Art Museum; MOCA, Los Angeles; Kemper Museum of Art; the California African American Museum and Smith College Museum of Art. They have been featured in Artforum, Art in America, The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, Artnews, Time out New York and XXL. Saar's work has been exhibited worldwide; her solo museum exhibitions include The Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art, Kansas City, MO; The Contemporary Arts Center, Cincinnati; Forum for Contemporary Art, St. Louis; Fresno Museum of Art; Pasadena Museum of California Art; Palmer Art Museum, PA; and San Jose Museum of Art.
