BIOGRAPHY
Described as a "whipsmart young conceptualist," Matt Keegan investigates such slippery concepts as reference, meaning and content in his artwork, questioning the relationship images and words have to direct experience. Keegan's work is in the collections of the Guggenheim Museum and Whitney Museum of American Art in New York the Annette and Peter Nobel Collection in Zurich. He has had one- and two-person exhibitions at Altman Siegel Gallery in San Francisco (2009); Anna Helwig Gallery (2008) and Mandrake (2007) in Los Angeles; and D'Amelio Terras (2009 & 2007), White Columns (2006) and Wallspace Gallery (2006) in New York. His work has also been seen in group exhibitions at the Guggenheim Museum and Andrew Roth Gallery in New York (2010); Crone Galerie, Berlin (2010); and the Contemporary Arts Center, Cincinnati (2006). Keegan received his MFA from Columbia University and his BFA from Carnegie Mellon University. He lives and works in New York.
