BIOGRAPHY
Rob Fischer is interested in the things people leave behind. Abandoned houses, furniture, books, wood flooring, and metal pipes are treasures to this artist, who transforms discarded materials into evocative, poignant works that reflect today’s mobile society. He has had solo exhibitions at the Whitney Museum of American Art at Altria, New York; Cohan and Leslie, New York; Mary Goldman Gallery, Los Angeles; Contemporary Arts Forum, Santa Barbara; Franklin Art Works, Minneapolis; Max Wigram Gallery, London; and Art in General, New York. His work was included in the 2004 Whitney Biennial and has been seen in numerous group exhibitions, including shows at P.S.1 Contemporary Art Center, New York; Brooklyn Museum of Art; Corcoran Gallery of Art, Washington, D.C.; Interval, Sculpture Center, New York; and the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis. Fischer received his BFA from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design.
