Item Special Note
Actor and producer Rick Fox has appeared in a number of film and television projects, sharing the screen with actors ranging from Whoopi Goldberg to John Turturro to Angela Bassett, and has displayed a versatility and range that has allowed him to showcase his talents across an array of genres.
Fox’s acting debut came in 1994 in William Friedkin’s Blue Chips. Similar roles followed in 1996’s Eddie and 1998’s critically acclaimed He Got Game (directed by Spike Lee) before Fox’s breakout role on the hit HBO series “Oz.” Playing a hardened inmate for four seasons, Fox’s portrayal of Jackson Vahue proved that the former basketball star was beginning a successful new career that continues to this day.
Since then, Rick has appeared in over a dozen network shows, including “Ugly Betty,” “One Tree Hill,” "The Game", and Prince Tyreese on “Dirt.” Most recently, Fox played club owner Mason Davies in CW’s “Melrose Place.”
In addition, Fox has appeared in a series of diverse films, including Resurrection, Holes, The Collectors, Mini’s First Time and Tyler Perry’s Meet The Browns. In Meet The Browns, Rick starred opposite Academy Award-nominee Angela Bassett, displaying a sensitivity and depth to the role miles away from Jackson Vahue, yet filled with the same emotional heft.
While Fox continues to strengthen his craft, he's just as busy behind the camera, developing his own film and television projects for his production company, 1744 Entertainment. The company has already released one movie, Hysteria, and is currently developing numerous television projects.
Fox currently lives in Los Angeles after retiring as a 3-time NBA Champion with the Los Angeles Lakers.
