Item Special Note
Katie Cook, host of CMT INSIDER, has become a viewer favorite with her enthusiasm and immense knowledge of country music. In addition to Cook’s regular series hosting duties, she has hosted CMT specials such as the live CMT MUSIC AWARDS PRE-PARTY, LIVE 8 and live red carpet coverage from country music’s annual CMA and ACM Awards. Katie has also served as a commentator on cable networks CNN and CNBC.
Country music runs in Katie Cook’s blood. She grew up surrounded by country music greats including her father, hit songwriter Roger Cook, a member of the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame known for penning such hits as Don Williams’ “I Believe in You,” Crystal Gayle's “Talking in Your Sleep” and the theme song of the famous Coca-Cola commercial, “I’d Like to Teach The World To Sing.” After graduating from high school in Nashville, Cook became a stylist and opened her own salon on Music Row, where she learned the ins and outs of the business from her clients. After hours, Cook worked on music herself. Eventually she closed her shop and moved back to England, where she lived as a child, to pursue music full time. The CMT host formed country-tinged pop group Reno, which released an album on Curb Records. While still passionate about her music -- she has a publishing deal with EMI – Cook has turned her focus to television and has been on-air at CMT since 2001.
