Item Description
What Does Henna Celebrate?
Weddings, baby showers, coming of age, graduation, birthdays, women’s gatherings, success in battle, religious holidays, any personal or public celebration!
What is Henna?
Lawsonia Inermis is a bush with fragrant flowers (perfumes) cultivated for hair dye, body art & used as an ornamental shrub. The leaves are dried, ground & mixed with lemon juice, sugar & terpineol-rich oils to facilitate a red staining of the top layer of skin.
How Long Does Henna Last?
Depending on placement & time left on the skin, stains can last 7-30 days.
Can It be Washed Off?
Not really. Exfoliation & loofahs, peroxide & whitening toothpaste can hurry the sloughing off of the stain, though.
From Where Does Henna Originate?
Current evidence dates henna used as body art to 3,700 BC in Egypt, Ugarit & the Holy Land. Egypt reportedly gave henna plants to India much later, as henna body art spread along North & east Africa, the Middle East, the Mediterranean & South Asia.
Henna first came to the US in the 1800’s as hair dye, then in the 1990’s as a body art.
What Colors Does Henna Come in?
Depending again on placement & time left on, henna stains from a cherry red to an almost black hue. Darker stains occur on palms & soles, lighter stains further from these areas as the top layer of skin varies in thickness.
LemonSugarHenna contains all natural ingredients & is made by hand fresh for each event. It takes 24 hours and precise mixing to get a good staining & workable well-textured paste.
