Governor Donald L. Carcieri and Mrs. Carcieri have selected "Jamestown Bridge Regatta" by Stephen M. Mancini, an oil and acrylic on canvas, as the winner of the "Best in Show" Award in this year's "Scenes of Rhode Island" art competition.
The scene depicts a group of sailboats passing under both the new and old versions of the Jamestown bridge. A familiar sight for any Rhode Islander!
This limited edition framed print is number 75 in a series of 100, and is signed by both the artist and Governor Carcieri. The framed piece measures 24"w x 56"h.
Item Special Note
Stephen Mancini is an artist and photographer of national recognition, who also earned a coveted "Clio" award for film. His work is included in galleries in Newport, Boston, Block Island and Naples Florida as well as in corporate and private collections across America including: the Newport Tennis Hall of Fame, Armstrong Cork Co., Mass. General Hospital and Rhode Island Hospital.
Artist Member: Providence Art Club, Newport Art Museum, Naples Art Association, Voila Gallery, Complements Art Gallery.
His paintings offer memorable emotional impressions of his New England surrounds as well as his travels in Italy, the Caribbean and Southwest Florida. He is also well known for his portraits. Mancini paints in oils and acrylics on canvas. Many of his works are collages incorporating artifacts found at the sites he has painted.
The winning bidder will need to make arrangements to pick up the item at the offices of the Rhode Island Zoological Society or provide payment for shipping charges.
