Item Description

"The Blues" are happening in Mississippi! Immerse yourself in the history and the music genre that was born in the cotton fields of Mississippi. Spend a full day visiting Blues Markers and points of historical significance in the Delta.

Your tour begins at the Tunica Convention & Visitors Bureau office on Blues Highway 61, which is designated as the "Gateway to the Blues." Visit the five markers in Tunica County and then begin your ride through the Delta. The tour includes stops at Ground Zero in Clarksdale, a true blues venue owned by Morgan Freeman, as well as Po Monkeys, one of the last genuine juke joints. Later your will stop at the B. B. King Museum in Indianola. There are many other points of interest along the way too numerous to mention. Lunch is at Senator's Place in Cleveland, which is famous for all you can eat "soul" food. YUM!

Dr. Luther Brown, director of the Delta State University Center for Culture and Learning, guides the tour. At each marker and point of interest, there will be music appropriate to the location. If you are at James Cotton's marker, you will hear James Cotton's music. Your chauffeur for the day will be Anne Coggins.

Your hotel host will be Harrah's Casino & Hotel with weekend accommodations and dinner for two.
