Item Description

One (1) folk art display piece, a small vintage desk chair, hand-painted with acrylics on metal and wood laminate in the style of a Basset Hound dog, by Northern California artist Michele de Onate. Michele's eclectic artistic stylings are on full display here with her latest creation, which she titles simply, "Bored Basset". This lovely piece has been hand-painted by one of the west coast's most esteemed talents. No patterns or stencils were used, just the meticulous brush strokes of Michele! Signed on the bottom by the artist and protected completely with two coats of spray sealant to ensure a long life, it features a delightful Basset Hound in a state of repose. Accented with ivy & vines over a blue sky background, its black & white checkerboard pattern caps off the piece nicely. It would make a wonderful addition to any dog lover's interior decor, or even accentuate some collector's menagerie of fine folk art. This is a fully functional vintage item (of unknown age or origin), recently purchased at an estate sale and painted by the artist. Display the piece hanging on a wall, or resting in a corner of the room to bring out the best of any home decor. Observe the fine detail work of Michele's latest artistic creation and you'll witness the whimsical mood she evokes in this wonderfully lovely piece. Designed as a child's school desk chair, the piece is no longer appropriate for practical usage as a kids' accessory. Although it is perfectly safe for short term seating, due to some structural imperfections along the metal parts of the chair (some minor bending of the frame, which does not affect its aesthetic valueA?see photos), the artist is presenting this item as a display piece. The chair would look great in any room of the house or your workplace for most practical display purposes. Made primarily of metal, with a wood laminate seat and back, this sturdy piece measures 22 inches high, by 12 inches deep and 11 1/2 inches wide!.
