Item Description
Mr. Weeks, a Big Island woodworker in the 1880's, loved Hawaiian music, and, in trying to express this in his work, he designed the first settee of this type with back and arms patterned after the clefs in musical scores. This design garnered widespread acclaim throughout the islands and Queen Liliuokalani displayed one in her home.
Building on this inspiration, Terry Salter, a modern day master woodworker, has produced this stunning, curly koa "Weeks Settee" for our auction. He is known for his reproduction pieces and finds his inspiration comes from the irridescence and bands of color in the Hawaiian Koa wood.
Item Special Note
The actual settee dimensions are 84" length, 42"height, 27"depth.
For Pick up only. No shipping available. Winning bidder is responsible for Hawaii state tax.
