Item Description

This is "Flower and Root Vegetables", a hand-colored lithograph first shown in "Curtis's Botanical Magazine" which was has been published continuously (under varying titles) since the late 18th Century. This is an early 19th-Century print.

This publication, for the first time, brought detailed illustrations of plants to a general audience. It was the brainchild of British botanist William Curtis and used his own work and that of several other gifted illustrators.

Item Special Note

The litho itself measures 10" x 7 7/8" and is in mint condition. Matted in museum board in a gold-painted wood frame, overall dimensions are 16" x 30".

This is a donation from the collection of Stephan and Julia Brigidi of the Bristol Workshops in Photography, Bristol, RI.
