Item Description

Enjoy these rare, first growth wines- a 1998 Vieux Chateau Certan paired with a 1990 vintage of Chateau Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande.

In the heart of the Pomerol, only a few rows of vines away from the famous church tower, is situated Vieux Château Certan, the oldest cru of the appellation- which has continued to affirm itself as one of the rarest and most prestigious crus in the world.

Parker Review:
A fine offering, the 1998 has closed down, but there is no doubting its fabulous potential. The color is a dense purple. The wine reveals high tannin, huge body, and classy black fruits intermixed with minerals, spice box, cedar, and tobacco. A long, persistent, tannic finish gives this majestic effort a closed but formidable personality. Patience will be required. Anticipated maturity 2008-2030.

The unique encepagement and the twelve hectares of vines situated on the soils of St Julien endow the wines of Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande with an exceptional personality compared with the other crus of the Pauillac appellation. Complexity, elegance and longevity are the hallmarks of this race, they are found every year during the creation of the vintages.

Parker Review: The Chateau Pichon Longueville Comtesse De Lalande 1990 offers berries, currant, and flowers on the nose. Medium to full bodied palate, with fine tannins and a fruity finish. Round and caressing. Best after 2010.
