Located strategically at the mouth of Narragansett Bay, it’s no wonder that Fort Wetherill was used as a coastal defense by British, French and American forces.
One major asset of its Jamestown location is the commanding view it affords - a view today enjoyed by state-park visitors and anyone who sees this original oil painting by Arline Pepper or Johnston, RI.
Arline’s passion is painting and she’s a co-founder of the Bottega Gallery and Art Center in North Kingstown. Arline works not only in oils, she creates works in pastels and charcoal, as well.
