Item Description
Artist Mary Jane Q. Cross of Newport, NH, is a local favorite here in the Ocean State, which she visits often. This gifted painter has an inspiring backstory: Medication caused her to develop a permanent tremor in her right arm. She has since relearned painting, having deveopled a new technique: 95% of her work is now fingerpainting, with brush strokes deftly applied using a prosthetic device. Mary Jane's style is primarily colorist, though she also describes herself as a "closet realist!"
Lilies and water are among the broad scope of subjects this multiple-award-winning artist favors, including children and landscapes. Mary Jane makes a subliminal connection with the viewer because she is emotionally and spiritually present in all her paintings. Much of her work is accompanied by poetry which adds to the experience of viewing it. Take a good look at the picture of this artwork: You’ll see that Mary Jane Q Cross's work is signed with a thumbprint made into a Q.
This giclee on canvas is a joint donation by Mary Jane Q. Cross and the Royal Gallery, on Providence's historic Federal Hill.
Item Special Note
This framed giclee of an oil painting measures 21"H x 25"W.
