OPENING OCTOBER 9, 2010

Expect a menu of pintxos, other small plates and grilled meats and fish, as executive chef Yuhi Fujinaga, who trained in the region, aims to bring Basque country to New York in an ultramodern space designed by conceptual artist Syd Mead. Highlights include creamy Idiazabal cheese croquettes, bread and garlic soup with slow-poached hen egg and chorizo and grilled whole sea bass with txakoli wine, fennel, artichokes and crispy jamon. An extensive list of Spanish wines and whiskeys from around the world will also be served, alongside market-driven cocktails. A visiting chef series sponsored by the Basque government will feature a special guest in the kitchen every other month.

Bar Basque is the newest addition to the China Grill family, which includes Asia de Cuba, China Grill, Empire Hotel Rooftop, Plunge and more.
